{"id":1162,"date":"2018-01-25T01:11:16","date_gmt":"2018-01-25T01:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/?p=1162"},"modified":"2019-11-25T03:44:16","modified_gmt":"2019-11-25T03:44:16","slug":"how-to-fix-freeze-stutter-slowdown-and-stylus-pressure-problems-in-magicpicker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/?p=1162","title":{"rendered":"How to fix freeze, stutter, lags, slowdown and stylus pressure problems in Photoshop (MagicPicker and other panels can be affected)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">This only affects Windows\/Adobe Photoshop CC Users that have installed Windows Creators Fall\u00a0Update.<\/span><\/strong> The symptoms in Photoshop CC may include (but not limited to):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The stylus is lagging when you click and press on the panel<\/li>\n<li>You can click and select a color with it, but you can&#8217;t drag the sliders<\/li>\n<li>The plugin won&#8217;t recognize the stylus when pressing and moving across the color picking areas<\/li>\n<li>If you click on the panel with Wacom pen then the color updates. But if I press and drag the panel does nothing. You can only tap<\/li>\n<li>When you want to pick a color and move it with Pro Pen on Cintiq then you can&#8217;t move it. Only double click works. Also\u00a0it still works with mouse<\/li>\n<li>You lost pen pressure sensitivity on Photoshop<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All those problems are connected to Photoshop CC&#8217;s bug with stylus and tablet, in most cases it&#8217;s a Wacom tablet-only problem but it affects other tablets as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #339966;\">The good news it&#8217;s very easy to fix! Please do the following (the fix bellow applies to all versions of Photoshop you just need to replace Photoshop&#8217;s version in the path):<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"thickbox\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/PSUserConfig.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1167\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1167\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/PSUserConfig.jpg\" alt=\"PSUserConfig\" width=\"1786\" height=\"898\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/PSUserConfig.jpg 1786w, https:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/PSUserConfig-300x151.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/PSUserConfig-768x386.jpg 768w, https:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/PSUserConfig-1024x515.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/blog.anastasiy.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/PSUserConfig-1200x603.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>1) Go to your Wacom preferences and disable \u201cWindows Ink\u201d or \u201cWindows Freehand\u201d (the name depends on your Wacom drivers version)<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">This is not all! After this step you will probably lose pen pressure sensitivity, so follow next steps to avoid it:<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Go to <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">C:\\Users\\\u201cYOURNAME\u201d\\AppData\\Roaming\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CC2018\\Adobe Photoshop CC2018 Settings\\<\/span> and modify a file called <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">PSUserConfig.txt<\/span> (create a new file if it doesn\u2019t exist). You need to add the following lines:<br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"># Use WinTab<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"> UseSystemStylus 0<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3) Restart<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s it!
